Frequently Asked Questions
What does "They Not Soulful Like Us" mean?
It separates the carriers from the borrowers — soul is lived, not leased. It rides the cadence of the 2024 "Not Like Us" callout, re-aimed at cultural depth: the soul of the music, the feeling, the history — claimed as inheritance, never imitation. The Malcolm X line ties it to his legacy — born May 19, the voice that never softened.
Is "They Not Soulful Like Us" an insult or a compliment?
A compliment with a boundary drawn in it. It doesn’t insult anybody — it just names who’s really of the culture and who’s passing through. Pride for the carriers; a quiet "we see you" for the borrowers.
What makes this a good gift?
For the one who studies the legacy — the Malcolm X edition pairs the pride line with the man who said it straightest. A gift for the reader, the thinker, the by-any-means-necessary spirit.
Where can I wear this?
Malcolm X Day observances, community gatherings, lectures and commemorations — anywhere the legacy gets honored out loud.
How should I style this?
Let the statement lead — the words are the outfit’s whole argument. Jeans, fresh sneakers, something you can move in; keep the rest simple and let the line talk.
Every Statement Has a Cultural Source
Street Talk Designs is rooted in documented hip-hop and urban street language. Some designs use documented slang; others draw from the broader cultural territory of humor, family, faith, personality, and everyday expression.
